Spanish White Coast of Costa Blanca

Costa Blanca (meaning in English "White Coast") is a widely known tourist and resort area covering over 200 kilometers of Mediterranean coastline in the Alicante province, autonomous community of Valencia in Spain. The name "Costa Blanca" was first used by one of British air companies as a promotional name when they launched their flights between London and Valencia in 1957.

The average air temperatures during winter-time in the south of Costa Blanca are 10°C and 31°C during summer-time, the average water temperatures are 13°C and 30°C accordingly.

Costa Blanca’s climate is recognized as one of the best in the world. Here, they’ve got over 300 sunny days a year, the average annual temperature is 19°C or 20°C. Moreover, in the coastal resort town of Torrevieja, Alicante province, there are 320 days of clear sky and sunny weather each year. The sea water temperatures are also higher in this area and the swimming season is much longer than in the other Spain's coasts. The World Health Organization recognizes the area of Costa Blanca as Europe’s region with a healthy climate. The presence of salt lakes and mud treatments, special climate conditions and clean environment, sunny weather and clear Mediterranean sea can help to restore health for people suffering from various diseases of the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems, curing from respiratory and skin diseases.

It includes the major tourist destinations of Benidorm (considered as the resort “capital” with its famous Playa de Levante and Playa de Poniente beaches), as well as Alicante (the provincial capital), Dénia and Javea. A new big amusement park Terra Mitica had been opened in 2000 in Benidorm, which is visited by more than 1 million tourists a season.
