Calpe Moors & Christians Fiesta Program 2013 in Calpe

The 2013 Moors & Christians Fiesta is the celebration of Santisimo Cristo del Sudor - the patron saint of Calpe. The festival takes place in October 2013, to celebrate the historic attack on Calpe that took place on 22nd October 1744.

The fiesta commences with the ringing of bells, fireworks, band parades & a presentation in the Old Town.

The main procession takes place on a Saturday, and starts in Avenida del Norte at 7pm, continuing for several hours through the town to the Plaza Colon at the bottom of Avenida Gabriel Miro. This is a spectacular parade of colourful costumes & music and not to be missed!

The Sunday offers the re-enactment of first landing on the beach, with the main activities taking place at Playa Arenal at 11am. The stage is set on the beach where a "castle" is constructed for the simulated "battle" as the Moors & Christians arrive on boats.

20: 30 h Presentation, opening speech festivals, and lifting of banners. At the end, Parade and offering of candles.

12: 00 h. Entry of Bous Al Carrer - Bull running - for children in the Old Town
19: 00 h. Great Parade of the Moors & Christians, commencing in Avenida del Norte, continuing to Avenida Gabriel Miro.

Sunday 21 OCTOBER
10:00 Gathering in the Port of the Moors
11: 00 h. Landing and battle on Playa Arenal
18: 00 h. Children's parade.
20: 00 h. Parliament, 2nd battle and "Miracle" in the Plaza Mayor

MONDAY 22 OCTOBER - Holy Day
11: 30 h. Meet at the Town Hall.
12: 00 PM Mass in the Plaza Mayor, at the end, Mascletà (huge setting off of fireworks) in Plaza Mayor.
Then, transfer of the Holy Christ Church parade.
19: 30 h. Meeting at the Town Hall.
20: 00 h. Solemn procession, followed by fireworks in the Plaza Mayor.

Calpe Oktoberfest - Beer Festival - October/ November 2013

The "Oktoberfest" is the Calpe Beer festival, organised by the Carnival Club of Calpe. The 26th festival dates are still to be confirmed but are around October/November behind the Club de Tennis in the Partida Gargasindi (opposite the Silene de Ifach Nursery). The Mayor will inaugurate the Fiesta by opening the first barrel of beer at 20:00 hours.
During the ten days of fiesta, the tent will open to the public at 18.00 hours, the music will start playing an hour later. As usual, in this spectacular celebration of a taste of Germany, it is expected that over 10,000 people will pass through the tent during the 10 days of celebration.

Calpe Bull Running 2013 - "Bous Al Carrer" - August 2013

To complete the Virgen de las Nieves fiestas, a full bullrunning programme - "Bous al Carrer" is organised.
